Wellington is known for its equestrian community and hosting equestrian events, show jumping, hunting, dressage and polo. Wellington is host to the Winter Equestrian Festival, the largest and longest running horse show in the world from January to the end April. Also the International Polo School is located here.

In the 1950s, Mr. Charles Oliver Wellington bought 18,000 acres of central Palm Beach County swampland, part of which would eventually become the world’s largest strawberry patch and then the Village of Wellington.

Wellington is a village, officially declared on December 31, 1995, in Palm Beach County with a total area of 31.4 square miles and a population of 61,637 (US Census 2022). It is located south of Royal Palm Beach, west of Lake Worth and Palm Springs and east and north of the Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, a 145,188-acre wildlife sanctuary.

The Mall at Wellington Green provides great shopping. Many restaurants are located here. Some fun things to visit are the Peaceful Waters Sanctuary, Wellington Amphitheater, Palm Beach Museum of Natural History, and the International Polo Club Palm Beach which has many equestrian activities all year.
